Why I Swear by this Feminine Embodiment Practice
Today we’re going to explore a wonderful Feminine Embodiment Practice which will help you drop out of your overthinking, busy mind, and instead relax into the delicious, beautiful presence of your body and all it’s deep knowing.
This is a practice for all genders and bodies and anyone can do at home- no fancy equipment needed. All you need is your body, a private place and potentially some relaxing or emotive music.

So, What is Feminine Embodiment?
Feminine Embodiment is not about wearing pink and picking flowers all day long (although there’s nothing wrong with that, hell it sounds lovely). Instead, Feminine Embodiment is about deeply connecting to your body and listening to its guidance, wisdom and knowings over a purely cognitive approach. Our body speaks to us though sensations, emotions, images and instinct, but we are so often only focused on what’s going on in our minds.
Feminine Embodiment is about slowing down and using movement, breath, expression and awareness to tap into THE full knowing and power of the body.
Why use the world ‘Feminine’?
We call it Feminine Embodiment because it is focused on more traditionally ‘yin’ qualities, such as intuition, sensations, slowing down and connecting to the heart. However EVERY human body can benefit from these qualities, which are vastly undervalued in today’s overly stressful, anxiety-driven world, and therefore is a great benefit to all genders and bodies.
What are the Benefits of Feminine Embodiment?
Too many to list, but here are some of the benefits I see in myself and reflected in my clients
Listening to myself and my own instincts instead of relying so much on the opinions and guidance outside of me
No longer being scared of strong emotions, as I know how to allow, welcome, express and release them
A general feeling of more contentment and grounding in my body, and a HELL of a lot less anxiety and looping thoughts
Learning how to change my state of being through internal practices, instead of waiting on the world outside me to change
Feminine Embodiment Moving Meditation Practice
One way to easily gain access to the feminine and the intuition of your body, is by a Feminine Embodiment Moving Meditation - you can follow along with any of my video found here or simply put some music on and guide yourself. This has been inspired by Jenna Ward’s primal feminine flow, which you can find out about here
1.We use music to put us in an emotive, receptive state. We start to move the body, not dancing but rather letting it lead. So for me, my hips tend to want to circle and my back likes to stretch out whilst I sway, so this is what I do. Just follow the lead of your body (no-ones watching so don’t worry if you feel silly)!
2. Then as you move, start to focus on the parts of your body which feel ‘loud’- and this can be physical, emotive or energetic. So your shoulders might feel tense, your heart heavy and sad or even a positive feeling such as excitement in your stomach. Follow this feeling with your awareness, whilst still moving.
3. You may want to express at this point, maybe a sigh, a cry or any other form of expression that comes. Over time you’ll notice that as you do this, your emotions shift and move into flow, and often a lightness in your body accompanies this.
4. And then we just repeat.
With time, you’ll get more sensitive to your body’s cues and honestly, quite addicted to this empowering practice. You’ll learn to attend to and soothe yourself, without the external distractions such as phones, food etc that we so often rely on and uncover all sorts of wonderful insights deep below the surface.
